Earthquake rocks Toyland

TOYLAND WAS ROCKED to its foundations last night as a reports of a rare earthquake came in. Toys were woken across Boston and Smallvania wondering why everything was shaken. As soon as they realised it wasn't just Emily looking for something behind the shelves, anxious toys in their pyjamas started excitedly wandering the streets and entering police stations.

'Waww I felt like someone was shaking me when I was sleeping!!' said Ryan Atwood, 20, from Smallvania. 'But it wasn't Nazzy. Wawwwwww!'

No-one is believed to have been injured but Mrs Mouse was said to be 'shaken' at news that her juice stand had fallen over once again.

The only person not to feel the earthquake was a disappointed Phoebe Nightingale, who woke up to ask an Express reporter, 'What's all the fuss about?'

Toys return from ski-ing holiday

A SMALL GROUP OF TOYS returned from the annual Toyland Snow Society ski trip last weekend, with photos and not without stories.

Marissa Cooper skiied red runs while her new friend Phoebe kept to the blues, and Ducky Mallard provided a chairlift. 'The snow wasn't very deep,' noted Marissa, 'but as we are only little it still went all the way up my legs!'

Phoebe spent a lot of the time napping on her snowboard, perhaps a little shaken after an accident on the first day.

'I was just having a little rest half way down the slope,' she explains to the Express 'when this complete madman skiing backwards goes right into me!' That madman later turned out to be Marissa, who can ski very well backwards due to her legs being sewn on the wrong way around. Some questioned her attempts to ski in high heeled purple strappy shoes though.

The ski trip was in Andorra, a new country for all those who travelled. 'All ducks speak the same language across the world though,' said Ducky, referring to Quacking. 'But there were no ducks in Andorra.' This didn't seem to stop him partying till late each night as apres-ski entertainment with lots of new friends, who all shared Gameduck games and sweets with eachother.

Character Biography: Hershey Bear

hersheybear

Name: Hershey 'Soul' Bear
Age: Unknown, probably in his early thirties.
Hometown: Boston, in the wardrobe
Catchphrases: 'Heyyyy, I'm Hershey Bear!', 'Heyyy I love you Marissa, won't you come back to me baby?', 'I'm easy like Sunday morning', 'We're dancing on the ceiling'
History: Hershey Bear originally became a character as a popular adult contemporary male soul singer, of whom Marissa was a big fan. They dated for a short time, though after breaking up Hershey's record sales plummeted and now he mostly tries to get back with his ex-girlfriend. He did date Sabrina also for a period, but he much preferred Marissa. Hershey now says he feels like there is no place for a black bear in Toyland.
Random Fact: Hershey endorses Hershey Chocolates in the United States, but unfortunately no-one in Toyland eats them.

News in brief

BOSTON - With the first snows falling across Toyland last week, Emily's bed was installed with a new extra warm duvet, which is much thicker than the summer one. Toys crossing the bed are advised to wear non-slippery shoes so they don't fall over. Emily's new watch was also put on display as Toyland's Grand Clock.

BOSTON - Ducky Mallard has passed his flying test following years of lessons and training at the Duckdale Academy. He can now fly solo to anywhere he wants. Not that ducks fly very much. 'It's nice to have the option though,' said Ducky to an Express reporter. Ducky is three years old.
